Sweet day, so cool, so calm, so bright,
(মধুর দিন, এত শান্ত, এত নিঃশব্দ, এত উজ্জ্বল,)
The bridal of the earth and sky:
(পৃথিবী ও আকাশের মিলনের মতো একটি বিয়ের দিন।)
The dew shall weep thy fall tonight,
(তোমার পতনের জন্য শিশির আজকে রাতে অশ্রু ঝরাবে,)
For thou must die.
(কারণ তোমাকে মরতেই হবে।)

Sweet rose, whose hue angry and brave
(মধুর গোলাপ, যার রং সাহসী ও দীপ্তিময়,)
Bids the rash gazer wipe his eye:
(যার দিকে তাকালে উজ্জ্বলতা চোখকে কাঁপিয়ে তোলে,)
Thy root is ever in its grave,
(তোমার শিকড় তো মৃত্তিকার মধ্যে, কবরের মতো,)
And thou must die.
(এবং তোমাকেও মরতে হবে।)

Sweet spring, full of sweet days and roses,
(মধুর বসন্ত, যা মধুর দিন আর গোলাপে ভরা,)
A box where sweets compacted lie;

My music shows ye have your closes,
(আমার সঙ্গীত বলে দেয়, তোমাদেরও শেষ আছে,)
And all must die.

Only a sweet and virtuous soul,
(শুধু একটি মধুর ও নৈতিক আত্মা,)
Like seasoned timber, never gives;
(ভালভাবে শুকনো কাঠের মতো, যা সহজে নষ্ট হয় না,)
But though the whole world turn to coal,
(যদিও পুরো দুনিয়া কয়লায় পরিণত হয়,)
Then chiefly lives.
